First Day Back

This is the first day back at Enrich for term 3 .

This morning we started talent development I chose art. We went for a walk to the museum to see the tuataras and sketch them. We also went to the art exhibition.

For art the main thing is dragons. Later in the term we are going to make clay sculptures of dragons and sketches .

This afternoon we were doing must dos and picks which is like must do can do except you only have two weeks to do them instead of the whole term and its checked off on a piece of paper by the teacher.

Teacher comment

Olivia you have learnt a lot about time management this past term, and how to balance your project with the must dos can dos. You have a positive attitude towards the tasks you are set, and when you are sure about what is being asked of you, work hard to achieve these goals. You are building some good friendships with a variety of new and returning students of a range of age groups.

2 stars and a wish

It is the last day of enrich for the term and I am reflecting by using two stars and a wish.

My two stars are:

*I completed my must do can do sheet

*I made a great poster that stands out for the book drive

My wish is:

That I could have managed my time wiser than I did by planning out what to do each week .

Book Drive

Last week I put some posters up about a book drive at my own school, Myross Bush School. If any students from Myrosds Bush School are reading this post, please donate a book! There is a box in the office to put your books in. These will go to a school in Christchurch called Discovery 1, they have been affected by the earthquakes and they are now holding their school in the back of St Johns hospice .These books will help them out a huge amount. thank you if you do donate some books!

Today

Today Pyper and I telephoned our principals to ask if it was ok to put posters up for our book drive for Discovery 1 - a school affected by the Christchurch earthquakes . We also made our posters for the book drive they look fantastic I think . I also went to the profiling workshop we finished of profile 5 and 6 .

Gifted Week

This week is Gifted Week. What exactly is Gifted Week? It is raising awareness for gifted people. To me, being gifted means you think differently to other people. I am lucky that I get to go to Enrich. Here, I have more opportunities. I work with other people who are like-minded. This challenges me and makes me work harder.

The top model of giftedness is that of Joseph Renzulli. He says that you have to have above average ability, task commitment and creativity to be gifted. The second model of giftedness is that of Gagne. He says that you were born gifted and the things around you like your environment and positive and negative impacts, motivation and your personality will help you develop your talents. Gagne also says that with all of that, you need chance as well. I like Gagne's model of giftedness best. I was born in Invercargill and I had the chance to come to Enrich, which is helping me to develop my talents even further.

Current Affairs

1. Why has school bullying been highlighted in the news in recent weeks?

Because it has been very bad bullying .

2. In the boys bullying article who do you think is in the wrong and why do you think this?

I think that Ritchard is wrong because he is the one that threw down Casey.

3. What do you think should happen as a result of this? Explain why.

They should both get expelled because they both were doing some thing bad. Ritchard punched and threw down Casey. Casey was bullying Ritchard.

4. What do you think schools should do to stop bullying?

They should have a guy and he puts security cameras and monitors them in a room and if he sees some thing happening like a fight he will go and split it up.

I did this for current affairs one week and it was about the bullying that was happening and we had to read the articles on these web sites.
